Candidates and party members participating in the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) grassroots elections in Nakuru and Kakamega counties will have just 24 hours to file disputes, according to a notice issued by the party’s dispute resolution committee.
The directive, issued by the party this evening, states that all complaints arising from the Phase III grassroots elections scheduled for Saturday, March 28, must be lodged within a day of results declaration or nomination decisions.
The party said its Electoral and Nomination Dispute Resolution Committee (ENDRC) will be available to receive, hear and determine all disputes linked to the elections, in a move aimed at ensuring timely and orderly resolution.
“All electoral disputes should be lodged before the ENDRC within twenty four hours upon declaration of results or nomination decision giving rise to the dispute,” said ENDRC chairman Adrian Kamotho in a notice.
He said the disputes may also be filed electronically through an official email address, allowing candidates and members to submit complaints remotely and within the strict timelines outlined by the party.
The committee will supervise the adjudication process as the party undertakes grassroots polls across the two counties, ensuring transparency, fairness, and compliance with internal electoral guidelines and established procedures.
In Nakuru County, Governor Susan Kihika has urged all United Democratic Alliance (UDA) members in Nakuru County to turn out in large numbers and take part in the party’s grassroots elections scheduled for this weekend.
The Governor said that taking part in the elections would ensure members exercise their democratic rights and actively participate in shaping leadership at the grassroots level.
She was speaking at her Milimani office when she met the UDA Nakuru County Returning Officer (CRO), Martha Wahome, and her team to review the party’s preparedness ahead of the repeat elections.
“The team confirmed that all systems are in place to ensure a smooth, transparent, and credible process,” she stated, adding that the exercise would strengthen the party’s governance structures ahead of next year’s elections.
The party’s National Elections Board (NEB) said the elections, which had been scheduled for Saturday, March 14, would now take place on Saturday, March 28, as Nakuru was hosting the WRC Safari Rally at that time.
Previously, in a notice dated March 2, the NEB said the repeat Phase III polls slated for March 7 would now be held on March 14 following the death of Emurua Dikirr MP Johana Ng’eno.
