Njuguna Powers Past Passi To Reach African Continental Tour Final

Kenya’s Charles Njuguna reached the men’s final of the African Continental Tour North Event Three after recovering from an uneven start to beat Uganda’s Isaac Passi 7-2 at Jacaranda Showground in Nakuru on Sunday.

Njuguna won six straight legs to close out the semi-final, finishing with a three-dart average of 77.96 to Passi’s 66.61. The match lasted 28 minutes and required 340 darts.

Passi took the opening leg in 24 darts before Njuguna levelled in 19. The Ugandan went ahead again by winning the third leg, also in 24 darts, but did not win another.

Njuguna started his run with a 17-dart fourth leg and followed it with a 15-dart fifth, averaging 100.20 in that leg. He stretched his lead through the next two before producing the match’s best leg, a 13-dart eighth at an average of 115.62.

The Kenyan sealed victory in 19 darts in the ninth leg. He scored 4,392 points from 169 darts over the match, while Passi registered 3,797 from 171.

Passi’s best scoring stretch came in the fifth leg, when he averaged 115.25 from 15 darts but was left on 40 as Njuguna checked out. It showed the gap between scoring and finishing in a match where Passi’s chances grew limited after his early lead.

Passi entered the event after competing in the ADC Africa Global Championship qualifier at the same Nakuru venue. He lost 6-0 to eventual champion Patrick Ocheng in the last 16 despite averaging 74.73.

The competition is part of a six-event African Continental Tour schedule for North and East Africa, with a combined prize pool of about KSh450,000, on the 2026 northern circuit.
