The County Government of Nakuru has made infrastructure upgrades, policy reforms and efficient public services central to its investment drive.

Deputy Governor David Kones said the county is committed to creating a favourable environment for private investment through better infrastructure, efficient service delivery and stronger public-private partnerships.

He spoke during the official opening of Maraluxe Resort and Spa near the National Cereals and Produce Board in Nakuru Town West sub-County.

Kones said Nakuru welcomes responsible investments that create jobs, promote innovation and improve livelihoods.

“We remain committed to creating an enabling environment for investment through improved infrastructure, efficient service delivery, and strong public-private partnerships,” he said.

He said the opening of the resort reflects private-sector confidence in Nakuru as a destination for tourism, business and investment.

Kones said hospitality businesses support the economy beyond direct employment by creating markets for farmers and opportunities for local suppliers, transport providers, artisans and event planners.

He urged hotel investors to hire local workers, source goods and services locally, and build partnerships with surrounding communities.

Kones added that Mara Luxe Resort and Spa would strengthen Nakuru’s position as a preferred destination for meetings, incentives, conferences and exhibitions.

He also called on businesses to adopt sustainable practices that protect the environment and deliver lasting benefits to local communities.

Director for Trade Mahu Macharia said the new facility would increase Nakuru city’s bed capacity. The county has an estimated hotel bed capacity of more than 12,000 beds across over 1,600 hotels, lodges and resorts.

Nakuru Young Investors chairman Jack Muriuki reiterated that the opening of new hotels and other enterprises reflects growing confidence in Nakuru as a destination for tourism, business and investment.

“Nakuru is an investment destination and every business that starts here thrives due to the business environment and the local clientele,” he said.
