Governor Lusaka Fires All Ministers In Sweeping Shake-Up

By Suleiman Mbatiah

‎Governor Kenneth Lusaka has disbanded Bungoma’s entire county executive team, citing the need to enhance efficiency, uphold institutional integrity and improve service delivery across the devolved unit.

‎In a press release this evening, the governor said the decision was made in exercise of his constitutional mandate to ensure effective governance and improved service delivery.

‎The reorganisation, effected with immediate effect, saw all Members of the County Executive Committee, the County Attorney and the County Secretary relieved of their duties.

‎The county government cited Section 40(1)(a) of the County Government Act as the legal basis for the sweeping changes, signalling a significant administrative overhaul within Bungoma’s leadership structure.

‎“This decision has been taken in good faith and in the broader public interest, to facilitate the efficient functioning of County Government and to uphold the integrity of its institutions,” the statement said.

‎Officials said the move was aimed at streamlining operations within the county executive, amid growing expectations from residents for improved service delivery and accountability in public administration.

‎The county government assured residents that continuity of services would be maintained, noting that appropriate administrative measures had already been put in place to avoid disruption.

‎According to the statement, essential services will continue uninterrupted as the administration implements interim arrangements to sustain operations during the transition period.

‎Further communication regarding interim appointments and the process of constituting a new executive team will be issued in due course, in accordance with the law.

‎The governor also acknowledged the contributions of the outgoing officials, thanking them for their service while reiterating his administration’s commitment to constitutionalism, the rule of law and due process.

‎The changes mark one of the most far-reaching restructurings in Bungoma County’s recent governance history, effectively resetting the county’s executive leadership and setting the stage for a new administrative direction.
