Nakuru Adopts Live Project Tracking To Boost Accountability, Service Delivery

A new real-time project tracking system is set to improve project implementation in Nakuru County, as authorities move to fast-track stalled developments and strengthen service delivery.

The system centralizes project data on a cloud-based platform, enabling officers to update task statuses, monitor budgets, and track progress through live dashboards and automated notifications in real time.

By the system delivering live status updates on each project, it gives county leadership direct visibility into implementation gaps, bottlenecks, and factors affecting timely delivery.

Governor Susan Kihika today chaired a meeting of all Accounting Officers, including the City Manager and Municipal Managers, to assess the progress of ongoing county projects.

The session brought together key budget holders responsible for executing development programmes across the county’s urban and administrative units.

The Governor said the system is expected to significantly boost the absorption of the county’s development budget, a persistent challenge for many devolved units across Kenya.

“Through the newly introduced Project Management System which provides real-time status of each project, I am confident we will boost absorption of our development budget,” Governor Kihika said.

Budget absorption remains a critical measure of a county’s capacity to translate allocated funds into tangible services, infrastructure, and economic growth for residents.

During the meeting, the Governor directed all Accounting Officers to demonstrate greater efficiency and commitment in ensuring projects reach completion within set timelines.

The directive signals a shift toward greater accountability within the county’s public service, with officers now expected to operate against measurable, technology-driven benchmarks.

“I urged all Accounting Officers to be effective, efficient, and fully committed to expediting project completion,” Kihika stated, reinforcing the administration’s push for results-oriented governance.

Beyond project completion, the Governor reaffirmed her administration’s broader agenda of driving economic transformation and improving the livelihoods of residents across Nakuru County.

The county, under Governor Kihika’s administration, has been implementing an ambitious development agenda spanning infrastructure, health, agriculture, and urban renewal.
