The Agricultural Society of Kenya (ASK) is set to host the 2026 Nakuru National Show from Wednesday, July 1 to Sunday, July 5 at the Nakuru ASK Showground, bringing together farmers, agribusiness players, innovators, institutions and families for one of the region’s largest agricultural and trade exhibitions.

Organised under the theme, “Promoting Climate Smart Agriculture and Trade Initiatives for Sustainable Economic Growth,” the five-day event is expected to attract hundreds of exhibitors and thousands of visitors from Nakuru and neighbouring counties, reinforcing its position as a key platform for agricultural transformation, business networking and knowledge exchange.

ASK Nakuru Branch Chairman De Perminas Migwi said preparations for the annual exhibition were complete and organisers were looking forward to a successful event that would showcase the latest developments in agriculture, trade, technology and innovation.

“The Nakuru National Show remains one of the most important platforms for showcasing innovations in agriculture, trade and technology while connecting farmers with markets and investment opportunities,” said Migwi.

He noted that this year’s exhibition will place greater emphasis on climate-smart farming practices, agribusiness development, value addition and sustainable production systems aimed at enhancing food security, improving livelihoods and supporting economic growth.

The exhibition will feature displays from the agriculture, manufacturing, financial services, education, housing, hospitality and small business sectors, providing visitors with an opportunity to interact with emerging technologies, products and services shaping the future of the economy.

According to the programme, exhibitors already attended a briefing on June 5 officiated by Nakuru Deputy Governor David Kones. Pre-show activities are scheduled for June 29 and June 30, while trade stand judging will take place on June 30 ahead of the official commencement of the exhibition.

July 1 has been designated as Business Day and will focus on trade, investment opportunities, partnerships and networking among stakeholders from various sectors. Regional Commisioner Abdi Hassan will be the chief guest.

Farmers Day will be marked on July 2, highlighting agricultural production, mechanisation, technology adoption, extension services and innovations designed to improve farm productivity and profitability. Governor Susan Kihika and her delegation are expected to grace the day.

The official opening ceremony is scheduled for July 3 and is expected to attract senior government officials, industry leaders, development partners and exhibitors from across the country. And plan are in top gear with President William Ruto expected to attend.

Members Day will be observed on July 4, providing an opportunity for Agricultural Society of Kenya members to engage with exhibitors and participate in activities organised during the show. The acting Managing Director and CEO of the Geothermal Development Company (GDC) Stephen Busieney will officiate.

The exhibition will conclude on July 5 with Family Day, which organisers expect will draw large numbers of families, school groups and members of the public seeking both educational and recreational experiences. In attedance will be the Vice-Chancellor (VC) of Egerton University is Prof. Isaac Ongubo Kibwage.

Visitors will have an opportunity to explore exhibitions covering crop farming, horticulture, dairy farming, livestock production, poultry keeping, sheep rearing, agricultural mechanisation and other value chains supporting agricultural growth.

Modern farm machinery, tractors, irrigation technologies and equipment designed to improve efficiency and productivity will also be on display, alongside exhibits featuring flowers, vegetables, cereals, livestock and poultry.

Beyond agriculture and business, the show will offer a wide range of entertainment activities including live music performances, theatre productions, military band displays, funfairs and amusement parks, creating an engaging environment for visitors of all ages.

“We are inviting farmers, businesses, institutions, schools and families to attend the show and take advantage of the learning, networking and business opportunities available,” Migwi said.

Gate entry charges have been maintained at Sh300 for adults and Sh250 for children. Organised groups and special parties will enjoy discounted rates of Sh250 for adults and Sh200 for children.

The society is also encouraging greater public participation through its membership programme. Executive membership has been set at Sh8,500, full membership at Sh3,000, single membership at Sh2,000, armed forces membership at Sh800 and Young Farmers Club membership at Sh400.
