The Encore Hotel has urged job seekers and members of the public to verify vacancies before submitting applications after fraudsters circulated fake recruitment notices claiming to offer employment at the new state-of-the-art facility in Nakuru.
The 5-star hotel said unknown individuals were using its name to advertise non-existent employment opportunities online and demand payments from unsuspecting applicants. Management disowned the advertisements and asked the public to avoid sending money through unofficial contacts.
In a public notice, the hotel’s management said it does not engage third parties to conduct recruitment and does not charge application, processing, interview or placement fees at any stage of hiring.
The board of management chairman David Mwangi said legitimate vacancies are published exclusively through the hotel’s official website and LinkedIn page. Applications for advertised positions should be submitted through hr@theencorehotel.com.
“Please be advised that The Encore Hotel never charges any fee at any stage of our recruitment process and does not use third-party recruiters,” he said, stressing that recruitment is conducted fairly and transparently under equal employment opportunity principles, with applicants considered solely on merit.

The warning came shortly after the establishment began its three-month soft-opening programme, a limited launch phase that allows a hotel to begin serving guests while testing operations, staff readiness, facilities and customer service before its official opening.
Mwangi did not disclose how many fraudulent advertisements had been identified, the amounts allegedly demanded or whether any job seekers had lost money. He also did not state whether the matter had been reported to police or other investigative agencies.
