Wetang’ula Confirms Death Of MP Ng’eno In Helicopter Crash

Wetang’ula said he had appointed a team of MPs to liaise with the family and coordinate support ahead of burial arrangements.

Emurua Dikirr MP Johana Ng’eno has died in a helicopter crash in Mosop, Nandi County, Speaker Moses Wetang’ula has confirmed in a communication to the National Assembly.

The crash occurred at about 4.45pm and claimed six lives, including the legislator serving his third consecutive term in Parliament.

“It is with profound sorrow that I hereby notify the House and the entire Parliamentary fraternity of the untimely and tragic demise,” Wetang’ula said.

Ng’eno was first elected in 2013 and had since retained the Emurua Dikirr seat through two subsequent general elections.

Until his death, he chaired the Departmental Committee on Housing, Urban Planning and Public Works and also sat in the Liaison Committee.

In the 12th Parliament, he served as a member of the Justice and Legal Affairs Committee.

“He served with distinction as Chairperson of the Departmental Committee on Housing, Urban Planning and Public Works,” the Speaker said.

The House committee he led oversaw passage of the Affordable Housing Act, 2024, setting a framework for access to decent housing.

Born in 1972, Ng’eno studied at Mogondo Primary School and Maseno National School before pursuing university education in Ukraine and Kenya.

He later earned a law degree and postgraduate diploma and was admitted to the Bar in September 2025.

Wetang’ula said he had appointed a team of MPs to liaise with the family and coordinate support ahead of burial arrangements.
