Detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations have arrested a land fraud suspect who skipped a scheduled plea taking at Milimani Law Courts last week.
Francis Maina Ndegwa was picked up by officers from the DCI Land Fraud Investigations Unit after failing to appear in court on February 19, 2026.
He faces a charge of fraudulent procurement of a certificate of lease under Section 103(1)(C)(i) of the Lands Registration Act.
Investigators allege Ndegwa forged signatures of a land registrar, a land administrator and several advocates to secure ownership documents.
The officials whose signatures appeared on the documents later disowned any involvement or dealings with the suspect.
Police say the alleged scheme targeted a prime parcel of land in Pangani, Nairobi County, valued at about Sh50 million.
“The suspect is accused of orchestrating forged documents to unlawfully evict the legitimate landowners,” a senior DCI officer said.
Authorities say Ndegwa was expected to take plea at Milimani but failed to present himself before the magistrate.
The court subsequently issued a warrant of arrest, prompting detectives to launch a manhunt.
He was arrested and placed in custody pending arraignment scheduled for tomorrow.
“This arrest demonstrates our resolve to dismantle organised land fraud networks and protect lawful property owners,” the officer added.
The DCI said investigations into related transactions are ongoing as authorities move to secure the disputed property.
