Ndumia Assures Gachagua of Safety Ahead of Planned Nakuru Rallies

Nakuru Town East parliamentary aspirant and frontrunner Boniface Ndumia has assured former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua of his safety ahead of planned three-day political rallies in Nakuru County next month.
Ndumia paid a courtesy call on the Democracy for the Citizens Party leader at his Wamunyoro home in Nyeri County, days after a church attack in Othaya that targeted the former deputy president and his supporters.
He said the visit was meant to check on Gachagua’s well-being and to express solidarity following the Sunday incident.
In a statement, Ndumia said he found Gachagua safe and in high spirits despite what he described as sustained pressure and harassment against him and his allies.
Gachagua has in recent weeks complained of intimidation and attacks on his supporters during public and private engagements, allegations the government has denied.
The Othaya church incident occurred amid rising political tension, with Gachagua accusing State agencies of failing to act against those behind violence directed at his camp.
Police have not issued a detailed public report on the incident, and no arrests have been announced.
Ndumia said talks at Wamunyoro also focused on preparations for the planned Nakuru rallies, which are expected to run for three days.
“We assured him of our readiness to host him and to guarantee his security during the tour,” Ndumia said, warning of growing political intolerance as the 2027 elections draw closer.
He was accompanied by his team leaders Amadi Kahero, Alex Kamau, devolution expert Benson Macharia and communications specialist Wangui Gichuru.
During the visit, the delegation delivered and presented 10 fattened rams to Gachagua and his family, as per Kikuyu traditions while wishing someone well in life.
Gachagua has since vowed to continue engaging supporters across the country, insisting he will not be deterred by attacks or intimidation.
