Jubilee Deputy Party Leader Dr. Fred Matiang’i has again criticized what he calls a growing culture of seizing public land and state facilities. He spoke at his home in Nyamira while hosting a Maa community delegation.

Dr. Matiang’i said public institutions, including land set for development, are increasingly targeted by powerful individuals.

He also criticized the Social Health Authority (SHA). He said it has failed to deliver essential health services since replacing the NHIF.

Addressing over 300 delegates, the former Interior Cabinet Secretary said his priority is tackling corruption and restoring accountability.

“We must gather the courage to end the madness of corruption,” he said.

Dr. Matiang’i repeated his call for the government to publish a full list of licensed mining companies. He argued that secrecy in the sector exposes communities to exploitation.

He accused President William Ruto’s administration of struggling to run the country while already seeking a second term. He said the government has “lost focus on basic services.”

Matiang’i noted that cuts to capitation funds have undermined free primary and secondary education. He promised to fully restore funding if elected.

He also pledged to reinstate the Linda Mama maternity programme. It offered free maternal health services under the NHIF before being disrupted in the transition to SHA.

“I am ready to serve and restore proper leadership in this country,” he said. He added that he would “confront Kenya’s problems boldly.”

Moitalel Ole Kenta, a Narok gubernatorial aspirant leading the Maa delegation, declared the community’s support for Matiang’i’s presidential bid. He vowed to mobilize support across Maa-speaking counties.
