The Odinga family has appealed to Kenyans for financial support to cover funeral expenses for the late Beryl Achieng Odinga. Her death came just weeks after the nation mourned the passing of her brother, Raila Odinga.
A memorial service and mini fundraiser will be held on Sunday at House No. 5, Mwingi Villas, Mwingi Road, Kileleshwa, starting at 4 p.m. Family, friends and colleagues are expected to attend for an evening of prayer, remembrance and solidarity.
The service will allow mourners to celebrate Beryl’s life, reflect on her legacy, and support the family in their time of loss.
A dedicated funeral fund has been set up under Beryl Achieng Odinga Funeral Fund, Paybill 8002413, with contributors advised to use their full names as the account reference.
Kisumu Woman Representative Ruth Odinga described her sister as warm, generous and deeply loved.
“We invite Kenyans to stand with us as we honour Beryl’s life and support the family during this difficult period,” she said.

Beryl, who died on November 25 while undergoing treatment in Nairobi, was a distinguished professional who made history as the first black Town Clerk of Mutare, Zimbabwe, and later served as Company Secretary at the Housing Corporation of Zimbabwe. In 2020, she joined the board of the Nairobi Water and Sewerage Company.
Her nephew, Raila Odinga Junior, confirmed the family had chosen Kang’o Ka Jaramogi in Bondo, Siaya County, as her final resting place, with guidance from Siaya Senator Dr. Oburu Oginga.
“We have agreed on her final resting place and will share the full programme in the coming days,” he said.
According to a family source, Beryl had battled a long illness and had been in and out of hospital in recent years.
Despite belonging to one of the country’s most consequential political families, she led a largely private life.
She was the fourth-born in the Odinga family, coming after Oburu, Raila, the late Ngire Omuodo Agola, and Dr Akinyi Wenwa
Beryl was married to the late Otieno Ambala, who briefly served as Member of Parliament for Gem before his death in 1985.
