Governor Susan Kihika has described the late Emurua Dikirr Member of Parliament Johanna Ng’eno as a people-focused leader, relentless justice fighter, truthful in conviction, and fearless defender of constituents.
The MP, who was serving his third consecutive term, died Saturday evening in a chopper crash in Nandi County, a tragedy that shocked colleagues, leaders and residents across the country.
In a condolence message shared on her Facebook account, Governor Kihika said Kenya had lost an impeccable and fearless leader whose voice resonated strongly with ordinary citizens.
“During his time in Parliament, he stood firm on matters that touched the ordinary mwananchi, never wavering even when it was difficult. He was truly an asset, offering clarity, courage and unwavering loyalty,” she noted.
The Governor added that Ng’eno offered clarity, courage and loyalty in legislative debates, often speaking with conviction on matters touching livelihoods and equity.
Beyond Parliament, she described him as a trusted friend and neighbour, citing shared aspirations between Nakuru and Narok counties for social and economic progress.
“As neighbours bound by geography and shared hopes, we will terribly miss him and his steadfast support,” she added, while conveying her condolences to his family, constituents and colleagues.
She urged them to remain strong and united during this difficult period, saying the nation stands with them as it mourns a seasoned legislator whose service and voice will be deeply missed.
President William Ruto has expressed profound shock and sadness over the death of MP Ng’eno, describing him as a progressive and devoted servant who worked tirelessly for Emurua Dikirr residents.
“He was focused, vocal and fearless, a leader who stood firmly for justice and equity for all,” President Ruto said, praising his dedication for progressive leadership and commitment to promoting local talent, especially in music.
Ng’eno’s death adds to a grim pattern of air tragedies that claimed Ahmed Khalif in 2003; Mirugi Kariuki, Bonaya Godana, Abdi Sasura and Guracha Galgalo in 2006; Kipkalya Kones and Lorna Laboso in 2008; George Saitoti and Orwa Ojode in 2012; Major Gen Francis Ogolla in 2024; and now Johanna Ng’eno in 2026.
