Youths have been urged to register as voters and take an active role in shaping their future and the country’s leadership direction ahead of the next General Election.
Nominated Member of County Assembly (MCA) Doreen Totona made the call during Solai MCA Nixon Morogo Cup and Huduma Mashinani drive in Solai, Rongai sub-County.
At the event, residents accessed services and received key documents from the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission, Kenya Revenue Authority and Department of Registration of Persons.
The Nakuru Woman Representative frontrunner led the mobilisation campaign at the sports event, urging young people to seize emerging leadership and civic engagement opportunities.
She said the new and vibrant generation must not sit back while decisions that directly affect their lives are made without their active participation and informed consent.
“I urge our youth to register as voters and take an active role in shaping their future and community development,” Doreen told residents, adding that the time for the youth is now.
She described football as a powerful unifier that brings communities together, strengthens social bonds, and offers young people renewed hope, purpose, and meaningful opportunities for growth.
The two-time nominated MCA said her leadership journey has been anchored on service, consistency, integrity, and a firm commitment to advancing youth empowerment across Nakuru County.
She was joined by Chief Officer for Youth and Sports Francis Njoroge and Chief Officer for Public Service Management Joseph Kibusia, who said the county remains focused on expanding youth opportunities through sports and public service reforms.
Njoroge said sports tournaments and outreach drives were designed to nurture talent and connect residents to government services.
Doreen added that Solai’s energy and strong participation reflected a determined generation prepared to actively shape Nakuru’s political direction and broader economic future.
Observers say Doreen has built strong grassroots networks across Nakuru County, steadily consolidating support and positioning herself as a formidable contender for the Woman Representative seat.
They describe her as accessible, focused and responsive to community concerns, qualities they argue resonate strongly with voters across urban centres and rural wards alike.
