Laikipia Governor Joshua Irungu has committed to working closely with the national government to deliver infrastructure projects that benefit county residents.
Irungu spoke and made the pledge earlier today during President William Ruto’s visit to Laikipia County where he inspected and launched development projects in the region.
During the tour, Ruto and Deputy President Kithure Kindiki launched the Rumuruti Modern Market and the Laikipia County Police Headquarters Administration Block.
“These projects reflect the strong partnership between the National and County Governments in delivering critical infrastructure,” Irungu said.
The modern market will cost KSh 260 million and accommodate over 750 traders. It is expected to create jobs and expand business opportunities in the region.
President Ruto announced plans to build 14 more modern markets across Laikipia County. The facilities will boost agribusiness and offer employment opportunities in the area.
The new police administration block aims to strengthen security and improve service delivery in Rumuruti Township.
Irungu said the market would improve working conditions for traders and boost local trade.
He said the projects mark continued cooperation between the county and national governments and would push for more development initiatives.
