The County Government of Laikipia has commenced the implementation of the Laikipia County Valuation Roll, formally calling on land ratepayers to verify the assessed values of their properties and the applicable rates.

The Laikipia County Valuation Roll (2021–2031) is an official property register for rating and revenue developed in accordance with law, including the Valuation for Rating Act and adopted by the County Assembly of Laikipia.

In a public notice, the Laikipia County Revenue Board said the exercise follows the enactment of the Valuation Roll, a key instrument used to guide land rates assessment and collection across the county.

Ratepayers have been asked to physically visit county revenue offices in Nanyuki, Rumuruti, or Nyahururu to confirm their current property valuations and corresponding rates.

“The verification process is intended to ensure accuracy, transparency, and alignment with the new valuation framework,” said the board’s Chief Executive Officer, Mr Kamunya Karundo.

Property owners who may be unable to visit the offices in person can seek clarification through designated telephone lines provided by the Board, depending on their respective sub-counties.

For Laikipia East and North, enquiries can be made through 0783 430 343 or 0782 313 158. Ratepayers in Laikipia West have been directed to call 0703 260 865 or 0747 819 937. General enquiries can also be made via the Revenue Board’s official telephone line, 0757 701 850, or by email at lcrb@laikipia.go.ke.

The board urged landowners to cooperate with the exercise, noting that the valuation roll is central to equitable revenue collection and improved service delivery.

“Timely verification will help address disputes early and reduce future conflicts over land rates,” Mr Karundo said.

The CEO also emphasized that the framework will provide the legal basis for fair land rates, strengthen county revenue, improve transparency, and supports budgeting and service delivery through consistent, verified property valuations countywide.

The County Government of Laikipia has been progressively reforming its revenue systems to strengthen own-source income, improve collection efficiency, widen the revenue base, and enhance long-term fiscal sustainability and service delivery across the county.
