Nakuru Governor Susan Kihika has praised Olenguruone Dairy Farmers SACCO for diversifying its income through the establishment of an animal feed processing plant.

The SACCO, based in Amalo Ward, Kuresoi South, is a beneficiary of the county’s Wezesha Fund, which supports cooperatives and enterprises to expand operations and add value.

On May 29, the SACCO received Sh5 million to grow its activities. Wezesha Fund is a Sh100 million financial empowerment initiative targeting small businesses and cooperatives.

The funding has been put to work through the construction of a feed processing room, the purchase of raw materials, and the production of the first batch of animal feeds, now being distributed to farmers.

The move is set to strengthen the dairy value chain and boost farmer incomes by reducing production costs for members while improving milk yields and quality.

The governor said the project reflects the county’s vision of promoting practical growth through value addition and cooperative-driven development.

“We are proud of your continued efforts to support your members and strengthen the dairy sector,” she said.

She added that such initiatives create sustainable benefits for farmers and contribute to a stronger local economy.

Kihika reaffirmed the county government’s commitment to supporting cooperatives that demonstrate accountability and innovation.
