Nakuru Town East parliamentary aspirant Boniface Ndumia has described the late Matheus Ndegwa, popularly known as Gadaffi, as a man who lived closely with the people.

Gaddafi died a week ago after a short illness, with his death widely described as a major loss to the region, particularly among young entrepreneurs who looked up to him for guidance and inspiration.

Ndumia said Gadaffi’s life and death reminded the community of the importance of peaceful coexistence, unity across tribes and generations, and a commitment to selfless service to others.

He spoke this afternoon after leading hundreds of mourners to view Gadaffi’s body at Umash Funeral Home in Barnabas, following a requiem mass at Christ the King Cathedral.

“Today, we are together with people of all ages and communities. There is no discrimination here. That is because he lived in peace with everyone,” Ndumia stated.

He recalled their early years working in Nakuru’s transport sector, saying Gadaffi was focused, disciplined and driven to succeed, earning respect from colleagues despite his young age and limited experience at the time.

Gadaffi later moved into the auto spare parts business, where Ndumia said he prospered through hard work and integrity, while supporting fellow traders, mechanics and young entrepreneurs within the industry.

Ndumia said that a day before his death, Gaddafi had mobilised mechanics operating at Centre in Kivumbini Ward for a political strategy meeting, which was ultimately not held.

“We had plans together, and we will continue with them in his honour. There are many things we shall do to remember Gadaffi,” he said while seeking for support in his parliamentary quest journey.

Ndumia announced he would provide five vehicles to ferry mourners for free to Kandara in Murang’a County for Friday’s burial and urged those travelling to observe traffic rules, keep time, and prioritise safety throughout the journey.
