Popular Benga musician and police officer Sammy Mucoki, better known as Samidoh, says he is still consulting his family and close associates about whether to report to his new work station in Baringo County, where he was transferred several weeks ago.

The singer, who has been performing abroad in recent months, quietly returned to Kenya to attend to what he described as an “urgent personal matter” before heading back to the United States for a scheduled series of shows.

In an interview with Kururia TV, Samidoh dismissed rumours that he had absconded duty, insisting he remains committed to his job in the National Police Service.

“I can’t just walk away from a job I fought so hard to get. I ran 10 kilometers bare-chested for it,” he said, referring to the physical drills he underwent during recruitment.

He revealed that he plans to return to Kenya in August and hinted at making a “major announcement,” though he did not provide further details.

Insiders aver that he might be contesting for the Ol Jororok Parliamentary seat, currently held by Muchira Mwangi.

Asked about his political leanings, Samidoh was non-committal but stated that his position remains unchanged, and so does that of many Kikuyus in the diaspora, he added, without elaborating.

At the same time, Samidoh said he would take with him to the USA several bales of “Kavagara” Raha Premium Maize Meal, a brand of ugali flour produced by Joy Millers Limited

“This is the most preferred maize meal by the people in the diaspora. I am happy Carrefour is now stocking it and I have confirmed,” he noted, while holding a packet.

Samidoh, who serves as an Administration Police officer, rose to fame blending traditional Kikuyu Benga music with modern themes.

His growing influence both in entertainment and in socio-political discussions has often kept him in the spotlight, especially over his balancing act between his police duties and international music tours.

Observers say he was transferred to Baringo County after chanting WanTam (One Term) during one of his performances. However, police said it was a normal transfer.
