ODM Distances Itself From Okech Salah’s Activities
By Suleiman Mbatiah
The Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) has formally distanced itself from activities linked to Mr Okech Salah, saying his actions do not represent the party.
In a statement issued by the party leadership, ODM said any engagements undertaken by Salah were in his personal capacity.
The party stressed that Salah is not authorised to speak, mobilise, or act on behalf of ODM in any official or unofficial forum.
ODM said it was clarifying its position to avoid confusion among members, supporters, and the general public.
According to the statement, all official party activities must be channelled through the ODM secretariat.
The party said such engagements require approval and guidance from the recognised party leadership structures.
ODM noted that failure to follow established procedures risks undermining internal discipline and party cohesion.
The statement reaffirmed that the party leadership is headed by Oburu Odinga, who oversees policy direction and official engagements.
Grassroots leaders and members were warned against organising meetings or initiatives in ODM’s name without clearance.
The party said unauthorised activities could mislead supporters and expose the party to reputational risk.
ODM reaffirmed its commitment to order, discipline, and structured political engagement.
The statement was signed by Gladys Wanga in her capacity as ODM national chairperson.
She said the clarification was necessary to protect the party’s integrity and institutional processes.
The development comes amid heightened political activity as parties tighten internal controls.
ODM said it would continue to communicate its positions through official and recognised channels only.
