Blogger Mr. Ndiangui Kinyagia, who went missing last week, is safe and in good health, his family lawyer Wahome Thuku has confirmed.
In a statement issued on behalf of the family, Thuku revealed that Mr. Kinyagia contacted a family member on Tuesday evening from an undisclosed location.
The blogger reportedly went into hiding after learning that officers from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) were searching for him over unspecified criminal allegations.
“Mr. Ndiang’ui indicated to the family member that he had hidden temporarily for fear of his life,” the statement read.
He has, however, expressed his readiness to present himself to the DCI and to be brought before any court of law once his safety and security are guaranteed.
The family’s legal team has advised Mr. Kinyagia to appear before the High Court at Milimani Law Courts today, Thursday, July 3, 2025, at 11 a.m.
This information has been relayed to the Law Society of Kenya (LSK) for review and presentation in court.
The statement also referenced an earlier incident in which DCI officers allegedly broke into Mr. Kinyagia’s home in his absence and confiscated several items. The family reported the matter at Kinoo Police Station.
The family expressed gratitude to Kenyans both at home and abroad for their support during the ordeal.
“It is our hope and prayer that justice will prevail in this matter,” the statement concluded.
His disappearance had drawn public attention amid growing concerns over the safety of bloggers and activists in Kenya.
