Residents of Uriri Constituency in Migori County are set to benefit from improved access to healthcare following the commissioning of Piny-Owacho Level 3 Hospital, part of a broader KSh2.4 billion government investment in health infrastructure over the past year.

President William Ruto said the funding has been directed toward strengthening health facilities across Migori County, with a focus on improving access to quality and affordable care for underserved communities.

Speaking during the commissioning of the new facility, the President said the government would ensure the hospital is fully operational and equipped to meet local needs.

“Over the past year, we have invested KSh2.4 billion in strengthening health facilities in Migori County, guided by our firm belief that every Kenyan deserves access to quality, affordable healthcare,” he said.

The Piny-Owacho Level 3 Hospital is expected to ease pressure on existing facilities in the region by bringing essential medical services closer to residents. Officials indicated the hospital will be stocked with adequate medical supplies and staffed with qualified personnel to enhance service delivery and reduce patient referrals to distant facilities.

The project forms part of a wider national push to upgrade healthcare infrastructure, particularly in rural and peri-urban areas where access gaps have historically limited timely treatment and increased healthcare costs for households.

Local leaders and residents welcomed the development, noting that the new facility could significantly reduce travel time for patients and improve emergency response in the area.

Government officials say continued investments in health infrastructure are aimed at strengthening primary healthcare systems, improving patient outcomes, and ensuring equitable distribution of services across counties.
