The burial of the late Mr. Maribe Mwangi, father to TV journalist Jackie Maribe, has been scheduled for Wednesday, December 31, at his home in Gathaithi Village, Murang’a County.

A memorial service will be held earlier on Sunday, December 28, from 10.00 a.m. at Worldwide Gospel Church in Buruburu, along Rabai Road, next to Rubis Petrol Station.

Mr. Mwangi, fondly known as Mheshimiwa Maribe, passed away peacefully on December 22, after a long illness bravely borne, according to a communication from the family.

Burial preparation meetings are currently underway both in Nairobi and in Murang’a. The family is holding daily meetings at his Buruburu Phase 4 residence, Eregero Court, House Number 117, as well as at Castle Garden every day from December 26 starting at 5.00 p.m. Similar meetings are also ongoing at his rural home in Gathaithi Village.

Speaking on behalf of the family, Jackie Maribe said her father had been unwell for an extended period and had been in and out of hospital, a situation that placed a heavy financial burden on them.

“We humbly request your prayers and financial support so that we may give our Mheshimiwa a befitting send-off,” she said in a communication from the family.

The family has appealed for financial contributions to help meet burial expenses. Contributions can be sent via Paybill number 4813691, Account Number: Your Name. Further details, they said, will be shared in due course.

Beyond family life, Mr. Mwangi once ventured into elective politics. In 2007, he contested the Kiharu parliamentary seat but was unsuccessful.

He later became a public figure after earning recognition for his steadfast support of his daughter during the protracted trial of the 2018 murder trial of businesswoman Monica Kimani.

Mzee Maribe was a constant presence in court, openly defending Jackie and standing by her side until the case concluded and was et free.

The family described him as a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and community figure, remembered for his resilience and unwavering commitment to his loved ones.
