Veteran motorsports photojournalist Anwar Sidi has appealed to those who stole electronic equipment and data from his South C home in Nairobi to return the items, saying he will offer a reward to anyone who assists in their recovery.
Sidi said no police or legal action would be taken against anyone who returns the laptop and external hard drives, adding that no questions would be asked.
He said the burglary occurred on December 25, and that the stolen items include a MacBook Pro, Model A2338 EMC 3578, serial number FVFF32N7Q05H, along with five external hard drives.
The devices contain photographs, projects and data accumulated over 43 years, spanning from 1983 to 2025, including images from the 2025 Classic Safari and material related to the WRC Safari Rally project.
Sidi said the loss goes beyond the value of the equipment, describing the data as professionally and historically significant and difficult to replace.
He appealed to members of the public who may come across the laptop or hard drives, or receive information about their whereabouts, to assist in their recovery.
“If you’re the one who took them, I kindly request you return them. No questions asked, no charges pressed,” he emotionally appealed.
Sidi said a reward would be offered based on the number of items recovered and whether the data remains untampered.
The incident has been reported to the police, who are yet to issue a statement.
Anyone with information has been asked to contact Anwar Sidi on 0722 786 714 or 0735 786 714, and to share the appeal widely to increase the chances of recovery.
