Athletics Kenya has warned athletes against participating in a time trial scheduled in Nakuru after suspending events organised by Scholarbook International over regulatory breaches.
The federation said all activities organised by Scholarbook International in Kenya remain suspended due to non-compliance with Athletics Kenya’s anti-doping regulations and event management requirements.
Despite the suspension, the organiser has advertised a recruitment time trial dubbed “Golden Ticket Training” set for March 12 at Afraha Stadium in Nakuru.
Athletics Kenya said the event was publicised through social media platforms, raising concern that athletes may unknowingly register for a competition not sanctioned by the federation.
Officials cautioned athletes and support personnel against participating in the event or any activities organised by Scholarbook International until further communication from the federation.
“Participation in non-sanctioned competitions exposes athletes to regulatory and eligibility risks under national and international athletics governance frameworks,” Athletics Kenya said in a statement.
The federation urged athletes, coaches and managers to verify the approval status of competitions before committing to participate in training events or time trials.
Scholarbook International has previously organised recruitment-style time trials aimed at identifying promising runners and linking them with international training or competition opportunities.
However, Athletics Kenya said organisers must comply with federation rules, including anti-doping safeguards, event approval procedures and athlete welfare standards before staging competitions.
“Adherence to federation guidelines safeguards athletes and protects the integrity of athletics competitions conducted within the national and international governance systems,” the federation stated.
