Munyao Sinks Ngari 7-4 In Dramatic ACT Semi-Final Fightback

Dominic Munyao came back from 4-1 down to beat Benson Ngari 7-4 and reach the final of the African Continental Tour North Event Three at Jacaranda Sports Club in Nakuru.

Munyao took the opening leg, lost the next four, then won six in a row to book his place in the title match. The semifinal lasted 43 minutes and was played over 11 legs of 501.

Ngari controlled the early stages, hitting a 15-darter and a 102 checkout during his four-leg run. Munyao responded in the sixth leg, got back to 4-4, then took the final three legs to complete the comeback.

He produced the fastest leg of the match in the 10th, with a 14-darter and a 107.36 three-dart average, before wrapping up the contest in 21 darts in the next leg.

Ngari finished with a slightly higher match average, 74.70 to Munyao’s 74.04, but could not halt Munyao’s late surge. Munyao also hit the only maximum of the match, while Ngari had the highest checkout.

The win leaves Munyao one victory away from the Event Three title. His opponent in the final had not been confirmed at the time of publication.

He will now face Charles Njuguna, who recovered from an uneven start to beat Uganda’s Isaac Passi 7-2, at the finals.

Njuguna won six straight legs to close out the semifinal and finished with a three-dart average of 77.96 to Passi’s 66.61. The match lasted 28 minutes and took 340 darts.

The Kenyan sealed victory in 19 darts in the ninth leg. He scored 4,392 points from 169 darts over the match, while Passi managed 3,797 from 171.

The tournament is the third event of the 2026 African Continental Tour North series and runs from July 24 to 26. The Nakuru event has a KSh450,000 prize pool and is part of the African Darts Group’s PDC-affiliated circuit.

According to African Darts Group, the circuit contributes to continental rankings based on results, three-dart averages, maximums and checkout performance.
