The United Democratic Alliance has rescheduled its party nomination exercise for Ol Kalou Constituency in Nyandarua County to Friday this week, following internal consultations and representations from members and candidates.

The development comes amid heightened political activity in the constituency following the death of the area’s former Member of Parliament, David Kiaraho which has triggered renewed interest among aspirants seeking to secure the party ticket.

In a notice, the party’s National Elections Board said the decision followed concerns raised after an earlier timetable issued on April 26, prompting a review of the process to accommodate stakeholders.

National Elections Board Chairman Anthony Mwaura urged all aspirants and party members in Ol Kalou Constituency to take note of the revised nomination date and prepare accordingly ahead of the exercise.

“All party members and candidates are advised to take note of the changes and adjust their preparations accordingly,” he stated, urging compliance ahead of the rescheduled nomination exercise that has attracted tens of candidates.

Party officials indicated that the change is intended to ensure a smoother nomination process, minimize disputes, and uphold fairness, particularly in a politically sensitive contest shaped by recent events.

The United Democratic Alliance has in recent past been conducting grassroots elections across various regions, with the exercise seen as a critical step in consolidating its grassroots support and preparing candidates for upcoming electoral contests.

Members and candidates in Ol Kalou are now expected to finalize their preparations within the revised timeline as the party moves to complete the nomination exercise under the new schedule.
