Nashon Kondiwa has been appointed Director General of the National Transport and Safety Authority for a three-year term effective today.

The appointment was announced by the NTSA Board of Directors in consultation with the Cabinet Secretary for Roads and Transport.

In a statement, the board said Mr Kondiwa brings more than 22 years’ experience in information and communication technology, innovation and public sector leadership.

He has also worked in transportation systems, urban mobility and digital transformation within the road transport sector.

Before his appointment, Mr Kondiwa served as Deputy Director for Information Communication Technology at the authority.

In that role, he led the digital transformation of NTSA and oversaw the modernisation of its service delivery systems.

The board said his institutional knowledge and technical expertise positioned him to lead reforms in road transport management.

“Mr Kondiwa’s proven expertise in ICT leadership and strategic vision will steer NTSA to greater heights,” said board chairman Khatib Abdallah Mwashetani.

He added that the authority expects measurable improvements in road safety outcomes and operational efficiency under the new director general.

“We are confident that his leadership will strengthen service delivery and enhance safety across the road transport sector,” Mr Mwashetani said.

The National Transport and Safety Authority is mandated to regulate road transport and promote safety on Kenya’s roads.
